Titanic and Ghosts

Many people are fascinated by the idea of ghosts, so I thought an article on ghosts would be interesting to write. But I didn't want just the plain ol' boring ghost talk, so I decided to look for something different on the web.

We always hear about the ghost haunting the house because there had been a tragic death years ago. That's interesting; I love all ghost tales. But that's too plain for this article. Instead, let's look at important events and the ghosts involved.

First, I thought of the Titanic. Over fifteen hundred people lost at sea, left to freeze to death. The horror of what they went through before their deaths must have left a traumatic impact on the atmosphere.

My search brought me to Angelique's site. She has a very interesting webpage about calling forth the spirit of Captain Smith and sending the victims of the Titanic onward into the light. I have no clue as to if she's a real psychic, or if she really attempted this in any fashion, but I found it to be an interesting read. I'm a huge fan of Titanic, and I'd like to think that something helped those poor souls along - whether it was God or someone giving them a nudge from Earth.

Click here for Angelique's Titanic webpage.

Then I found myself wandering to The Shadowlands where I came across a real-life encounter "Some Are Dead and Some Are Living." Here, a person gives an account of a ghostly encounter in a hotel, only to find out that the hotel had been designed by Mr. Atkinson of the White Star Lines (the firm that later built the Titanic), and that pieces of another downed ship called the Mauritania had been built into the hotel's structure. The victims of the Mauritania and others, such as a suicide victim, are reputed to haunt the hotel.

It interested me to come across an article in a back issue of GHOST! magazine about the permanent Titanic museum, Titanic - The Exhibition, in Orlando, Florida. Many actors and other people working the exhibit have experienced ghostly activities.

Do lost souls remain to haunt pieces of their previous lives? Or does our over active imaginations cause us to see and hear things that aren't there? It's an interesting question, and difficult to answer. Especially when it involves a tragic event with many people. We have a tendency to feel for the victims more than usual.
